Our Research Projects

Since 1998, we have changed our central aim and research projects from the older ones to the front-line projects shown below. These new works were carried out with generation of several mutant mice, whose genes were artificially modified, such as gene knockout mice, gene knockin mice and so on. We focus our research to elucidate the molecular mechanism of animal reproduction and gonadal differentiation, craniofacial development through BMP receptors, and to molecular physiological study of neurohypophysial hormones/receptors and sociosexual behaviors, and so on. Along the publication of our works, here we will introduce you our new and exciting findings.

    1.Neurohypophysial hormones/receptors and sociosexual behaviors.

  2. 3.Dmrt7 gene and spermatogenesis.
  3. 4.Orphan GPCR LGR4.
  4. 5.Cell-permeabilized proteins and their applications.
  5. 6.Arp family proteins and Chromatin level regulation.
In the first decade after the group of Prof. Nishimori started research projects, with generation of several
gene KO mice in the Lab. of Mol. Biol., they achieved to obtain various novel findings as follows;
New physiological functions of neurohypophysial hormone/receptor system, such as controlling sociosexual behaviors,
energy expenditure, novel function of BMP typeI receptors on craniofacial development and suture formation,
novel function of orphan GPCR LGR4/GPR48 on kidney function/development and on the other tissues/organs,
novel and essential function of Dmrt7 on spermatogenesis, PTD-mediated protein transduction and its application for
advance of biotechnology, and so on.

On the other hand, the group of Associate.Prof. Harata continuously carried out research of nuclear chromatin with focusing to Arp proteins, and obtained several new findings.
